The passage of time diminishes the capacity of our sight resulting in presbyopia. There are three alternatives to tackle this problem. One is by using progressive lenses; another is through the use of multi-focal lenses. Yet another potential solution is treatment known as monovision. Monovision is a tried and tested method of arresting age sight degradation (presbyopia) through adapting customized contact lenses so that they can cater for both long-sightedness and short-sightedness.
Essentially the method brings objects into focus and encourages the eyes to cooperate, then send messages to the brain, and translate for the user what it is they see and learn over a period of time, as they focus on the clearest picture.
To take advantage of this finely-tuned treatment careful eye tests must be carried out to achieve the best adjustment possible, thus enabling the brain to gradually recognise and focus on visual signals.
